The key raw material for production of biodiesel at Mestilla plant is rapeseed oil. Biodiesel made from rapeseed oil is the best for use in countries with severe climate.

Production of methyl ester from vegetable oil covers two main stages. At the first stage oil is generated from rapeseeds using two-level hot mechanical pressure. At the second stage of production oil is refined and transesterified with spirits using catalysts. During the vegetable oil transesterification process two by-products separate from methyl ester: glycerol and potassium sulphate.

Biodiesel produced at Mestilla plant conforms to the European and Lithuanian quality standards (LST EN 14214).
